With Salty Pirate Fishing Charters, you can appreciate inshore fishing in the world-famous Pine Island Sound and backcountry fishing in Matlacha! You'll be fishing on an 18-foot Pro-Line that can accommodate up to four people. This flats boat is propelled by a 150 HP Mercury engine that achieves high speeds rapidly and gets you to your fishing place swiftly. The fee includes all fishing equipment and licenses. Explore the nearby flats and inshore areas for Tarpon, Snook, Trout, Redfish, Snapper, and Grouper. You'll primarily pursue them with light tackle. The catch can be released, or if you prefer, the captain will clean and fillet it on your behalf at no cost.&nbsp; Salty Pirate Fishing Charters ensures you a productive day out on the water while having fun and learning about the area. The full moon and bigger currents have scattered bait and fish around the sound a bit but the usual suspects are still around and next week will just heat up again.  Snook remain on the beaches and back sides of the barrier islands.  Target them with live bait.  Redfish along interior islands in the sound are plentiful.  Tarpon are still thick in the passes and bridges but you can find bigger tarpon settling on inshore flats as well perfect for fly or sight casting!  Local bait shops like D&D in Matlacha or Gromms on the water north of Boca Pass have plenty of crabs available for your silver king adventure.  

The bait has been scattered.  Chumming will produce plenty of pinfish.  Reports of white bait south of Matlacha bridge and they can be found on the flats but have moved off the beaches now.  Look for them to come back inside with the full moon gone.

About Captain Keith Zumar:A native of Southwest Floridian, Captain Keith Zumar grew up fishing the waters of Matlacha and Pine Island Sound along with fishing the canals and jumping the bridges of Cape Coral! He and his friends mastered the art of catching snook from their 12' Jon boat in their early teens. After graduating from Cape Coral High School in 2001, Keith shipped off to the Navy where he served 20 years, retiring in 2021. While on Active Duty, Keith was a Rescue Swimmer and earned his black beret as a Riverine Patrol Officer. In 2007, Keith commissioned as Surface Warfare Officer which culminated in his highlight tour as Weapon and Combat Systems Officer onboard the guided missile cruiser USS VELLA GULF. Keith deployed overseas four times throughout his career earning numerous awards and accolades including 2017 Atlantic Fleet Department Head of the Year, becoming the Navy's senior active Rescue Swimmer, and awards that include three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals. in 2006, Keith married Tracy and had three amazing children. The family set up roots in California, Virginia, and Rhode Island but ultimately, Cape Coral beckoned the family home in 2021! During their cross country trips, Keith continued to fish and duck hunt holding onto his dream of one day being a charter captain. Earning his charter captain license in 2021, Salty Pirate Fishing Charters was born. An incredibly fitting name given his leadership style in the Navy and even more rewarding to share his love with clients on the waters he grew up on! Whether it is 20 hours on the water with the 3 day youth camps, or taking a solo trip exploring the labyrinth of mangroves, he is at home on the water.
